1-2 years old have passed, now you will face the next stage of child development. In children aged 2-5 years, aspects that can affect development are far more extensive.
At the age of children 2-5 years, five main aspects that need attention are language skills, sensory abilities, cognitive abilities, physical abilities and social emotional abilities.
The following aspects at the stage of development of children aged 2-5 years:
Physical development
Physical development of children aged 2 years to 5 years is not as fast as in children under the age of one year. After 12 months, the child's weight has only gained 2.5 kg per year. His height also only increases 8 cm per year. This slow weight and height increase occurs until children are 5 years old. At this age children have started to want to be independent, for example children try to eat alone or change their own clothes.
Emotional and social development
This stage of development generally starts at the age of 2 years. Most children at this age are still in the stage of playing happily near children their age, but they don't want to play together. After entering the age of 5 years, new children like the concept of friends. At this age, children also have their own desires. For example, wearing certain clothes that you like, every day. Children also often do something that is prohibited, such as writing or drawing on the wall.
Language development
Between the ages of 2-5 years, children's language skills develop quickly. At least at the age of 3 years, they have mastered more than 200 words. They can also follow directions or instructions from others, even for two different commands. For example, when children are asked to wash their hands and store shoes.
Sensory and motor development
This stage of development of a child's age cannot be separated from the development of sensory and motor skills. If at a previous age children still do everything roughly and without calculation, at the age of 2-5 years is more regular. For example, kicking the ball becomes more focused, going up or down the stairs more carefully, and learning to hold a stationery to draw something that catches his attention.
Cognitive development
Cognitive development that has been mastered includes knowing the time difference (day or night), distinguishing various colors, recognizing letters, and counting. When an adult calls an object, the child can show it. Children have also begun to recognize limb names.
